SOFTBALL TO COMPETE IN FASTPITCH DREAMS SPRING CLASSIC THIS WEEK

RALEIGH, NC – The Shaw University softball team will travel to Myrtle Beach, SC to compete in the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic. The Lady Bears will play seven games in three days against teams from all over the country.

 

Shaw will face the following opponents in Myrtle Beach:

 

-          March 8 vs. Alderson-Broaddus at 9:30 a.m.

-          March 8 vs. Ohio Valley | 3:30 p.m.

-          March 9 vs. Malone | 1:30 p.m.

-          March 9 vs. Ohio Christian | 3:30 p.m.

-          March 10 vs. West Virginia State | 9:30 a.m.

-          March 10 vs. West Virginia State | 11: 30 a.m.

-          March 10 vs. Roosevelt | 1:30 p.m.

 

The Lady Bears (1-11) are coming off an 11-1 loss to Shepherd in the 2017 Shaw University Softball Challenge last weekend at Middle Creek Park in Cary, NC. Freshman Tori Hale (Moreno Valley, CA) has a team-best .280 batting clip, she has recorded seven hits and one RBI on the year thus far. Senior Sheniqua Fahie (British Virgin Island) follows with a batting average .267, including eight hits, and one RBI in 10 games.

 

Freshman Bailey Nixon (Denison, TX) leads the pitching unit for Shaw with a 1-3 record and 5.19 ERA in 27 innings of work.

 

Following the Fastpitch Dream Classic, Shaw will stay on the road when they travel to Charlotte, NC to begin conference play in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Roundup on Mar. 17-19.
