FINAL GAME OF 2017 SHAW UNIVERSITY SOFTBALL CHALLENGE RESULTS IN 11-1 LOSS TO SHEPHERD

APEX, NC To end the 2017 Shaw University Softball Challenge, the Lady Bears fell 11-1 to Shepherd University on Sunday. Shaw (1-11) had just six hits in the loss, while the Rams (5-4) had 14. The Lady Bears finished with a 0-2 record in this challenge.

The lone run in the game came from a double from Bailey Nixon (Denison, TX) that scored Sheniqua Fahie (British Virgin Islands) but the game would be a run-rule by the Rams. In the circle, the pitching duties were split in the loss with Fahie getting the start. Both she and Amanda Ortiz (Tucson, AZ) combined for one strikeout in the game.

Shaw struck early but in the bottom of the first, Shepherd responded to even the score at 1-1 before running up the scoreboard with nine runs the bottom of the third. The Lady Bears would trail 10-1 after three complete innings, which ultimately Shaw was unable to recover from.

The Lady Bears will be back in action next week at the Fast Pitch Dream Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, SC on Mar. 8-10.
