LADY BEARS SOFTBALL SURRENDER TO LOCK HAVEN, 8-1

CARY, NC – On the first day of the 2017 Shaw University Softball Challenge, the Shaw University softball team dropped an 8-1 decision to Lock Haven University on Friday, Mar. 3 for a night camp at Thomas Brooks Park.

The loss dropped the Lady Bears to 1-10 overall, while the Bald Eagles stand 2-6 on the season.

LHU plated one run in the first before tallying three in both the fourth and fifth inning to take a 7-0 lead over the Lady Bears. Shaw's lone run came at the top of the sixth inning when Christine Ngeve (Greensboro, NC) doubled to score teammate Alex Masnica (Chicago, IL) but the Lady Bears were down 7-1 heading into the bottom of that inning. The Lady Bears registered four hits on the night compared to the Bald Eagles 14.

Shaw will look to break even on Sunday versus Shepherd for its final game of the Softball Challenge at Middle Creek Park at 12:30 p.m. on Field 1.
