RALEIGH, NC – The Shaw University softball team is set to host its annual softball challenge this weekend, beginning Friday, March 3 through Sunday, March 5 at Thomas Brooks Park and Middle Creek School in Cary, NC.
General admission is $6, senior citizens is $3 and free for children under the age of 12.
The challenge will feature 21 teams of eight different conferences including the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), South Atlantic Conference (SAC), Mountain East Conference (MEC), Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), Conference Carolina's Association (CCA), United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC).
On Friday, the first games will start at 10 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. first pitch on Saturday and then a 10 a.m. start on Sunday. All games will be played at Thomas Brooks Park on Friday, while Saturday and Sunday will use both locations.
The Lady Bears hold a 1-9 overall record entering the weekend and will look to get things going in the winning column when they face off against Lock Haven (1-5) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. on Field 1 at Thomas Brooks Park, followed by a matchup against Shepherd (2-2) on Sunday at Middle Creek School Park on Field 1 at 12:30 p.m.
