WILSON, NC – The Shaw University softball team dropped a pair of games to Barton in a doubleheader at Barton at the Jeffries Field Sunday afternoon in a non-conference contest. The Lady Bears fell 8-0 in game, before the Bulldogs took a 7-0 win in the nightcap.
Frances Perry (Burlington, NJ) pitched game one for Shaw, striking out no batters while scattering 10 hits. The Lady Bears recorded three hits in the game, highlighted by Shenique Fahie (British Virgin Islands), Brittany Kline (Choctaw Beach, FL) and Tori Hale (Moreno Valley, CA) who all tallied one apiece but were unable to score a run in the game.
In game two, Chynna Gross (Orange Park, FL) took the mound for Shaw. She accounted for two errors and allowed one hit during her outing. At the plate, the Lady Bears posted five hits led by Kiana Rogers (Fort Atkinson, WI) who delivered two.
With the losses, Shaw record drops to 1-7 overall, while Barton improved to 5-3 on the year. The Lady Bears will return home to host St. Andrews in a doubleheader on Feb. 28 with a first pitch slated for 1 p.m. at Worthdale Park.
