LINCOLN, PA. - The Shaw Lady Bears softball team had their largest offensive outburst of the season in game one of their Sunday doubleheader against Lincoln (PA), only to top it by one run in the second game.
Shaw jumped on top early in game one, scoring five in the first and six in the second inning on their way to a five-inning 15-1 win.
Chelsea Holliday drove in two runs on a single in the first, and four on a grand slam home run in the second to pace to offensive action in game one. Shanice Anderson drove in two and scored three to add some firepower to the Shaw statistics.
Daniela Archibold turned in a stellar pitching performance, holding the Lady Lions to four hits in five innings and allowing only one run. She walked four, but struck out five on the afternoon.
In game two, the Lady Bears took advantage of 15 walks issued by Lincoln pitchers as well as four RBI from Briana Bease to capture a 16-1 win.
Holliday, Bease and Kayla Lafrades each collected two hits in the win, while Anderson got one hit, three walks and scored four runs in the effort.
Anderson pitched an outstanding game, giving up only two hits and one unearned run.
Leading 3-0 after one, Shaw exploded for seven runs in the second, gave up one in the bottom of the second, but scored another six in the final three innings, claiming the 16-1 win after five inning.
The Lady Bears, now 6-24 on the season, 4-12 in the conference, close out their season Monday with a doubleheader at Virginia Union. First pitch is at 2:00 p.m.
