Shaw To Host Softball Invitational

 

[Raleigh, NC] – The Lady Bears open their season this weekend by hosting the Shaw Inaugural  Softball Invitational. This invitational gives the team the opportunity to compete against seven other schools in the region.

 

Competing in the event are Barton, Lees-McRae, Virginia University of Lynchburg, Peace, Saint Augustine's, Fayetteville State, West Liberty and Shaw. Games will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and continue throughout the day.  On Sunday, the action begins at 9:00 a.m. and continues throughout the afternoon.  All games take place at Walnut Creek Softball Complex.

 

Last season Shaw finished with an 11-7 record in the CIAA (14-45 overall). Seven new freshmen have been added to this year's roster, and look to contribute their talents for the new season. The 2012 Lady Bears will feature a mix of fresh players and experienced veterans.

 

Shaw head coach Kimberly Miller has been hard at work recruiting in the offseason, going as far afield as New York and Trinidad.  Miller has pulled in players from all over the world to improve the team's success this season.
