Shaw Drops Two To USC-Aiken 10-2 and 8-0

(Aiken, SC) -  The Lady Bears closed out their six-game South Carolina swing by dropping a pair of games to USC-Aiken Sunday afternoon 10-2 and 8-0.  Both games went only five innings.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Aiken pitcher Lauren Rickabaugh pitched five innings of no-hit ball, giving up only one walk to mar the possible perfect game.

Shaw (1-9) struggled to find offense in both games giving no support to pitcher Daniela Archibold, who started and lost both games to fall to 0-4 on the season.  USC-Aiken improves to 4-0 on the year with the win.

In game one, Archibold gave up four runs each in the first and second innings, then found a rhythm, allowing only one run in the third and fifth, and shutting them out in the fourth inning.

The Lady Bears scored one run in the fourth and one in the fifth.  In the fourth inning, Emily Montgomery drove home Erica Lafrades to end the possible shut out.    In the fifth, Keyuanna White scored on Lafrades' double play ball.

In the second game, Archibold gave up eight runs, only six of which were earned.  White was the lone Shaw baserunner, reaching on a walk in the third inning.

The Lady Bears return home on Monday for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader against Mercyhurst at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex at 1201 Sunnybrook Road.
