RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's and women's cross-country teams will be racing in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships on Thursday, Oct. 26 at the Green Hill Park in Salem, Va.
The men's 8k race will begin at 10 a.m. and the women's 5k race is scheduled to follow at 11 a.m. ET
Immediately following the women's race, a championship awards ceremony will be hosted by the conference. Recognition of the top men's and women's individual winners, top 3 men's and women's team finishes, and the men's and women's Coach of the Year will take place at that time.
Last season the men's team placed fifth overall with a total of 138 points and had one runner shy of making the All-CIAA team whom placed 11th overall out of 71 runners. The Lady Bears placed ninth overall with a total 226 points as senior Briona May (Hampton, VA) paced Shaw with a 30th place individually.
Both the men's and women's cross-country teams are led by head coach Nadia Alexander-Pompey in second season.
