MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY PLACES FOURTH AT BLUE BEAR INVITATIONAL

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Shaw University men's cross-country team placed fourth overall at the Blue Bear Invitational Friday, Oct. 13 hosted by Livingstone College. The Bears tallied a total of 112 points for the meet.

Freshman Ivan Artegaga (Chatham, NC) led the Bears effort with an overall finish of 21st and a time of 34:09 out of 38 total runners. Freshman Thilo Wilke (Karlstadt, Germany) and senior Guido Margiotta (Coronel, Suarez) placed 25th and 26th with times of 36:41 and 37:14, respectively.

Methodist College finished first overall with a total of 15 points, following Bluefield State (56 points) and Faytteville State (78 points) for second and third place finishes.

Shaw will have a bye-week this weekend to prepare for the 2017 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Cross Country Championships on Thursday, Oct. 26 in Salem, Va.
