WILSON, N.C. – The Shaw University men's cross country team placed 3rd at the Barton College Bulldog Invitational hosted by Barton College at J. Burt Gillette Athletic Complex in Wilson, N.C.
Freshman DayQuan Chapman led the Bears with a 16th place finish. The Winterville, NC native completed the 8k race in 30:51.44. Junior Marcus Nelson was 20th with a time of 31.38.74 followed by Alphonso Boone (Emporia, VA) who was 26th, Reece Britt, Jr. (Franklin, VA) who was 29th, Michael Mason (Williamsburg, VA) who was 34th and Eric Warren (Raleigh, NC) who was 40th.
James Bickem crossed the line for 44th place. Boone had a time of 33.51.93, Britt, Jr. had a time of 34.39.80, while Mason and Warren reached the finish line in 41 minutes and 43.45 seconds.
There were 44 runners in the race.
Louisburg won the men's team race while Frisco Poole was the top individual finisher with a run of 27:26.29.
Shaw returns to action on September 18th to compete in the Adidas Challenge in Cary, N.C. The race is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. for the women and 6:30 p.m. for the men.
