(Cary, NC) - The Shaw Men's Cross Country team finished fifth at the 17th Annual Adidas Wolfpack Invitational, second among Division II schools competing in the event. The women finished ninth overall, third among fellow D-II runners.
Darius Berry (left) set the pace for the Bears, finishing the 5k course in 16:40.3 - good for 27th place overall.
Willie Stanley was second for the Bears with a time of 17:46.3 and a 40th place finish overall. Michael Caldwell finished in 50th with a time of 18:47.4.
The men finished behind North Carolina State, Eastern Carolina, Virginia Weslyan and Winston-Salem State. They had an average time of 18:16.76.
On the women's side, the Lady Bears finished ninth. Kiara Arrington (right) had a time of 23:53.4 over the 5k course to lead the team. She finished 78th.
Tairra Gaines finished immediately behind her, taking the 79th spot with a time of 24:06.3. Shareka Mitchell finished in 88th with a time of 25:09.5.
The Lady Bears averaged 25:00.14. Richmond, North Carolina State and East Carolina finished in the top three. CIAA teams Winston Salem State and Saint Augustine's finished fifth and eighth, respectively.
