BEARS FALL TO DIVISION I ELON, 7-0 IN MEN’S TENNIS

ELON, NC- The Shaw University men's tennis team fell to Division I Elon University on Wednesday afternoon at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. The Bears fall to 5-7 overall while the Phoenix improve to 9-11 on the season.

 

Shaw suffered a sweep in both singles and doubles action on the day.

 

Bach Tran (Leipzig, Germany) and Daniel AC (Kikinda, Serbia) suffered a 6-4 decision at the No. 1 doubles while Guido Margiotta (Coronel, Suarez) and Mauricio Gonzalez (Leon, Mexico) fell 6-0 at the No. 2 doubles.

 

In singles action, Tran dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision at the No. 1 spot while Margiotta was dealt a 6-4, 6-0 loss at the No. 2 singles and AC was handed a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 3.

 

At the No. 4 singles, Gonzalez suffered a 6-1, 6-1 loss and Thomas Spada (Piracicaba, Brazil) surrendered 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.    

 

Shaw will conclude the 2017 season with a regional contest at Fairmont State on April 17 at 1 p.m.
