RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's soccer team finished the 2017 regular season campaign on a two-match winning streak after defeating Washington Adventist, 2-1, Tuesday, Oct. 31 in Tacoma Park, Md. The Bears rise to 6-6-2 overall while the Shock fell to 10-7 on their 2017 season.
After trailing 1-0 in the first half, the Bears answered back in the second when sophomore Charles Showers (New Carrollton, MD) scored Shaw's first goal at the 77th minute. Junior Thilo Wilke (Karlstadt, Germany) followed up with this 14th goal on the season at the 81st minute to give the Bears the 2-1 win.
Freshman Mynor Martinez (West Hampton, NY) finished the contest with four saves to lead the Bears defense. Shaw held an 18-10 advantage in shots and a 7-5 frame in shots on goals for victory.
