Byron Williams enters his third year as the Assistant Head Coach for Men's Basketball under head coach Joel Hopkins.
Williams reunites with the Shaw University Men's Basketball program for the third time, first as a player (1996-97) then as an assistant coach (2000-02) and now as Associate Head coach.
The Tallahassee, Fla., native has an accumulated seven years of college level baskebtall coaching experience. His coaching career also includes five successful years at St. Augustine's University.
For the past several years Williams has been integral in the community and supporting high school and preparatory program basketball programs.
Williams' strong connection and loyalty to Shaw University makes him a strong asset to the basketball program.
A graduate of Shaw University with a degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice.
Williams' strong point are being able to implement the vision of the program from top to bottom. Interpersonal skills and building relationships are hallmarks of Coach Williams coaching toolbox repertoire. Pivotal in his peronal philosophy is the elevation of academics for the student athlete. He is excited to join in on the leadership of this epic journey in men's basketball.
