Shaw enters Thursday's game as the No. 1 seed and has not competed since Feb. 18. The Bears will look to get off to a good start Thursday in its 2017 CIAA Tournament debut versus No. 4 Fayetteville State.
The two squads split the regular season this year as both teams earned victories on the road. The Bears suffered a 72-70 buzzer beater loss to the Broncos back on Jan. 25 in C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium in its first meeting but Shaw sought revenge on Feb. 15 in Fayetteville by securing 73-63 win and also the division title for the first time in five years.
FSU is coming off an 86-80 win over No. 6 Saint Augustine's Wednesday night. Joshua Dawson led the Broncos with 25 points, five assists and four rebounds while Michael Tyson added 20 points and 10 rebounds. All-CIAA Rookie honoree Josh Bryant ended the contest with 11 points and six boards in the win.
The winner of Thursday's contest will advance to the Semifinal round versus the winner of either No. 2 Virginia State/No. 3 Winston-Salem State on Friday, Feb. 24 at 9 p.m.
