Andre George enters his first season at Shaw University as Defensive Coordinator as well as assisting with the defensive backs.
During his first three seasons of coaching, George coached defensive backs and assisted with outside linebackers and special teams at Southern High School, helping the Spartans to three straight PAC-6 titles under Head Coach Adrian Jones.
In 2010, George returned to North Carolina Central University as a graduate assistant with the football team. George was then hired full-time as Defensive Backs Coach and Special Teams assistant.
While at NCCU, George was influential in recruiting and developing Defensive Backs Ryan Smith ('16 NFL Prospect), CJ Moore (MEAC/All-American Performer) and Mike Jones (MEAC/All-American Performer).
As a student-athlete at NCCU, George amassed 150 tackles and 10 interceptions. A four-year starter in the NCCU secondary (2002-03, 2005-06), where seven of his picks came during his senior season in 2006, when he earned first team all-CIAA and first team all-region honors. He collected a season-high six tackles to go along with an interception and a pass break-up during the 2006 CIAA Championship Game win over Elizabeth City State. He also made six stops in the 2005 CIAA title game to aid the Eagles to victory over Bowie State. As a junior in 2005, George returned from an injury to become the team’s second-leading defender with 59 tackles.
A native of Columbia, Md., George graduated from NCCU in December of 2007 with a degree in public health. He spent the next three years in the health promotion field, getting people to live healthier lives through his work with the Center for Health and Healing and Duke Prospective Health. In 2013, George earned his Master’s in Public Administration.
He and his wife, Krystal, are the proud parents of daughters, Haleigh (9), Harper (2), and son Haiden (3).
