RALEIGH, N.C. – Former Shaw University defensive back Odie Harris of the Bears football program will participate in the 2018 Globe Bowl Game on Saturday, Aug. 11. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. in Cancun, Mexico.
Harris completed his senior season with the Bears in 2017. The three-year letterman tallied 73 total tackles, seven pass breakups and two interceptions during his career at Shaw.
The Houston, TX, native received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Management from Shaw in 2018.
Harris will play for Team America as they take on the Mexico Lexfa All-Stars. The Globe Bowl is an annual post-season football all-star game featuring standout college seniors and pro free agents that showcases a Team America team vs Team World an international all-star game with players from Mexico, Canada, Europe, North America, the USA, and more. The inaugural Globe Bowl was played April 12, 2015 at Salisbury Township Football Stadium in Allentown, PA and in January 2017 was played in Daytona Beach, FL at Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium in cooperation with the City of Daytona Beach. The spring Globe Bowl returns to the Lehigh Valley each April with "Team America" vs the Canada MIFA All-Stars who will travel to the states for the event. The Team America roster features many all-stars, including 3 former NFL players and many other Pro Arena athletes and top college seniors. The international Globe Bowls will be played annually to give players a chance to gain film and exposure to advance their careers. Many players have received invites from the CFL, arena, and play pro overseas.
