Bears Release 2012 Football Schedule
RALEIGH, N.C. - Shaw University today released its 2012 football schedule, which features six home games, including two non-conference games and four critical divisional contests.
"This is one of the most competitive schedules I can remember at Shaw," said Shaw head coach Robert Massey. "It's going to put this team to the test from the first snap and if they can perform well against these opponents, we have a good chance to play beyond the regular season."
The Bears open on the road at the University of Charleston (WV) on Thursday, August 30 in a 7:00 p.m. contest. Shaw then returns home for three straight games.
On September 8, the Bears host Miles College in a game that has been designated at Kids Day. One week later, Shaw will celebrate Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day when they take on Stillman College on September 15. The Bears close out the homestand with a match against Chowan which will celebrate members of the military with Military Appreciation Day.
The Bears take the road against Virginia State on September 29 then return home for the start of divisional play when they host Fayetteville State on October 6.
Following a contest at Livingstone on October 13, the Bears return home for two games. On October 20, the Bears play their annual homecoming game, this year against Johnson C. Smith. On October 27, they host Winston-Salem State.
The Bears close out their season at cross-town rival Saint Augustine's.
