Shaw To Open NCAA Play At Shepherd

(Indianapolis, IN)- Shaw University will open NCAA play Saturday, November 20 by travelling to Shepherd for a game at either noon or 1:00 p.m. The Bears enter play seeded fifth in the Super One Region. Shepherd is the fourth seed. The winner will advance to play number one seed Kutztown.

 

The Bears finished their season 9-2 after Saturday's 14-7 win over Virginia State to take the CIAA championship. The team finished the conference campaign undefeated (7-0) to earn the spot in the championship game.

 

Shepherd, located in Shepherdstown, WV, finished its season with an upset loss to Glenville State 28-24 on a last minute touchdown pass. The loss was their first on the season, giving them a 9-1 record overall, a 7-1 record in West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) play.

 

On the other half of the bracket, Mercyhurst has the bye as the second seed and awaits the winner of the game between number three see California of PA and number six seed Bloomsburg.
