Shaw Athletics Receive High Honors
at CIAA Spring Meeting
 

Durham, NC - (May 20, 2008) The 2008 CIAA Spring Meeting was held at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Durham, NC on May 19th & 20th.  All of the athletic personnel from the CIAA institutions were in attendance to recap the past academic/athletic year, discuss policies and compliance and brainstorm on ideas for an exceptional year forthcoming. 

The two-day meeting concluded with the annual CIAA Coach of the Year Luncheon.  Shaw University took three very prestigious awards that were presented to the well deserving recipients.  Coach Sunday Enitan received the Men's Tennis Coach of the Year following an exceptional year and post-season play in Savannah, GA.  Two of the outstanding student-athletes from the Men & Women's Tennis Teams won the top Scholar Athletes of the Year Awards.  Kim Moore and Alexandre Lord-Andrade were tapped because of their incredible athletic and scholastic performances. 

A recent graduate, Kim majored in International Relations and maintained a near perfect GPA of 3.99.  She made the 2008 All-CIAA and All-Tournament Women's Tennis teams; won the 2008 Kim was named to the 2007-08 President's List; won 2008 CIAA All-Academic Honors; won the 2008 Shaw Volleyball and Women's Tennis Award of Academic Excellence, 2008 President's Award of Academic Excellence and the 2007-08 Athletic Academic All-star Award.  She received a standing ovation for her excellence. She was the co-recipient with Celeste Trahan of Elizabeth City State University. 

Lord-Andrade is a rising Senior, Business Administration major with a 3.63 GPA.  In addition, he was named as the Men's Tournament MVP.  He was placed on the Dean's List for 2007-2008 and received the 2008 Shaw Men's Tennis Award of Academic Excellence.  He most recently was recognized with 2008 CIAA All-Academic Honors and the 2007-08 Shaw Athletic Academic All-star Award.  

Al Carter, Director of Athletics at Shaw University is the current CIAA Conference President and presented the awards at the Luncheon.  

Kim was interviewed by WRAL-TV and  featured in a special segment.
