Lady Bear Notes:

Shaw has won 20-straight games entering this 2004 South Atlantic Regional and is ranked fourth in the country.  The fourth ranking is the highest ranking for Shaw in head coach Jacques Curtis’ four-year tenure and is the highest ranking of any school in the South Atlantic Regional Tournament.   The Lady Bears were perfect against CIAA opponents in the regular season, as well as in the CIAA Tournament, running their record to 19-0 against the conference.  Shaw defeated Virginia Union 90-65 in the 2004 CIAA Tournament championship game to win its second-straight conference tournament crown.  This is Shaw’s second-straight appearance in the South Atlantic Regional, as Shaw lost in last year’s championship game 71-58 to North Florida.  Head Coach Jacques Curtis is 2-1 all-time in regional play.

Jessica Hawkins was named 2003-04 CIAA Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.  Kiarsha Curtis, Margiella Mobley and Latasha Shipman were all named to the 2003-04 All-CIAA team.
