Shaw Men Strong at Virginia State Invitational


The Shaw men's outdoor track team had a strong showing at the Virginia State Open Invitational in Petersburg, VA.  Some of the top finishers included: Kendall Nunn finished first place in the long jump with a jump of 20-7 3/4 and Kevin Cook finished 3rd with a jump of 17-3 3/4; Lloyd Knight finished in 1st place in the triple jump with a jump of 40-0 and 2nd place in the 110mh with a time of 15.66; Pierre Lassister finished 2nd in the 400mIH with a time of 1:09.03; Charles Simms finished in 1st place in the 1600m with a time of 5:26.00 and Jerry Dudley finished 3rd with a time of 5:41.00; Maurice Styles, Jr. and Jeffrey Jackson finished tied for 1st in the 5,000m with a time of 16:59.00, while Simms finished in 3rd with a time of 17:18.00; Corey Hargrove finished in 1st place in the 800m with a time of 2:04.00 and Matthew Thompson finished 3rd with a time of 2:08.00; Marques Poteat finished 2nd in the javelin with a throw of 105-0 and Marcus McClendon finished in 3rd place with a throw of 97-0; and the 4x100mr team consisting of David McIntyre, Lloyd Knight, Kendall Nunn and Kevin Cook finished in 3rd place with a time of 43.84.
