MEN’S TRACK TAKE TITLE AS
RUNNER-UP
IN 16TH ANNUAL
CAROLINAS
CHAMPIONSHIPS
April 12, 2008 –
Raleigh, NC – The
Shaw University Men’s Track
team competed in a total of 16 scored events to accumulate 131
points and be declared as the 2008 Runner-Up in the 16th
Annual Carolinas Track & Field Conference Championships.
The Men’s Track team took home four first place finishes. Junior Vitalis Wekheye (Namable, Kenya / Biology) won the 800 meters with a time of 2:03.65 as senior Marc Allen (Fort Washington, MD / Criminal Justice / Sociology) won the 1,500 meters event with a time of 4:29.87. In addition, freshman Jared Arnold (Philadelphia, PA / Adapted PE) won the 5,000 meters even with a time of 16:50.62 as Allen finished in second place with a time of 17:04.95. Furthermore, freshman Clyde Armstrong (Charleston, WV / Adapted PE) won the high jump with a height of 1.88 as teammate sophomore Paul Graham (Oxford, GA / Business Administration) scored second place with a height of J1.88.
At the conclusion of the competition, Allen was named Most Valuable Player of Running Events. Congratulations to the Men's Track team for an outstanding performance!
