MEN'S TENNIS FINISHES SECOND IN CIAA CHAMPIONSHIP
Petersburg, VA - The Shaw Bears tennis team made an impressive showing in the 2002 CIAA tournament with 3 singles victories and 3 runners ups. After the first day of play was rescheduled due to weather Shaw won a No. 1 men's singles victory with Michael Oladele defeating C. Brown of NCCU (6-0, 6-1). In No. 2 singles, Samuel Okoya defeated L. Jenkins of VSU (6-3, 6-3). In No. 3 singles Shaw obtained another victory with John Agori defeating R. Headen of NCCU in an impressive match in which Headen went scoreless (6-0, 6-0). During the men's singles final Shaw won three matches in No.1, No. 3, and No. 4 singles with Michael Oladele defeating C. Lee of JCSU (5-7, 6-3, 6-4), John Agori defeating A. Wing of JCSU (7-5, 6-7, 6-1), and Kevin Eno defeating J. Gilbert of JCSU (6-4, 6-4).
