SHAW TENNIS TEAMS SET FOR MID-ATLANTIC REGIONAL PLAY

Raleigh, NC – Last weekend (April 23) the Shaw University men’s and women’s tennis teams won the 2006 CIAA Tennis Championships and received the automatic bid for the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament.  The NCAA has released the pairings and tournament sites for the national tournament and both teams will travel to Savannah, GA.  The tournament dates are Thursday, May 4 and Friday May 5.

Both teams will take on host Armstrong Atlantic State in the first round of regional action. The Bears will take on Armstrong Atlantic at 2:00 p.m.

This will be the Bears second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regional.  Last year the Bears were defeated 7-0 by Armstrong Atlantic in the first round.

Joining Armstrong Atlantic and Shaw in the regional tournament is Francis Marion and Anderson College men’s play.
