SHAW MEN’S & WOMEN’S TENNIS CONQUER CHOWAN  

March 21, 2008 – Murfreesboro, NC – The Shaw University Men’s & Women’s Tennis Teams both took home road victories after their games against Chowan University. The Women’s Tennis Team defeated Chowan 6 – 3 as the Men’s Tennis Team shutout Chowan for a 9 – 0 success.

On the Women’s Tennis Team, Shaw won four of the six singles matches. The Lady Bears top performer was Kim Moore ( 5 – 9 / Junior / Bayshore, NY / International Relations) as she rendered her opponent scoreless in both matches for two 6 – 0 wins. Shaw finished the competition winning two of three doubles matches.

On the Men’s Tennis Team, all five singles matches were won as Shaw’s top performance was produced by in the fourth single match when Kalada Kienka (6-3 / 160 / Freshman / Lagos, Nigeria / Computer Science) only allowed his opponent to score one match point. Kienka defeated Chowan’s Jonathan Walker 6 – 1 and then 6 – 0. The Bears completed the match winning all three doubles matches.
