SU BEARS TENNIS OUT TO DEFEND TITLE

(4/18/06) - The Shaw University Men’s Tennis will start their defense of the 2005 CIAA Championship on Wednesday, April 19 at Virginia State University.

The Bears are going into the tournament as the number one seed for the sixth consecutive season after defending their Eastern Division Championship with a 6-0 mark.  Over-all SU is entering the tournament with an impressive 16-0 mark.

Leading the Bears is All-CIAA Kabiru Ibrahim at the #1 singles spot.  The senior Lagos, Nigeria native is taking a three year 54-0 mark into tournament.  This season he is presently 16-0 and finished 19-0 in 2004 and 2005.  As a team, SU is 53-4 over the past three seasons (18-1/2004, 19-3/2005).
