SHAW SWEEPS MEN'S TENNIS TO WIN 2ND STRAIGHT CIAA TITLE

The
Shaw University Men’s Tennis Team swept the championship round of the CIAA
Men’s Tennis Tournament and came away with their second straight title,
scoring 72 points to second place J. C. Smith University’s 62. Host
Virginia State finished third with 48 points.
SU’s #1 singles player, Kabiru Ibrahim
extended his three-year win streak to 57 in a row winning three straight in
the tournament. Ibrahim was also named tournament MVP for the second
straight year. Ibrahim defeated Justin Stuckey of J.C. Smith 6-2, 6-4 to
win the title.
Rain moved the tournament indoors at Courtside West in Richmond, Virginia.
The women’s tournament will be continued until tomorrow morning back on the
courts at Virginia State University with Shaw and Fayetteville State tied at
32 a piece.
