Shaw cornerback Shawn Woodard and
center Robert Rhodes were both named to Don Hansen’s Football Gazette
Preseason All-America Team. Both
players are also Preseason All-CIAA picks.
Woodard, a junior from Rock Hill, SC, led the nation last season in
interceptions (1.6), recording 13 and passes defended (3.0), recording 24.
Twice last season he recorded four interceptions in a game (9/27, 11/8), was
named CIAA Player of the Week three times and was named first team All-CIAA in
addition to being named All-American.
Rhodes,
a native of Los Angeles, CA and one of the top linemen in the country last year
was named CIAA Offensive Player of the Week three times, was named first team
All-CIAA and helped Shaw lead the CIAA in total offense (404.6) which ranked
32nd in the nation.
