Shaw cornerback Shawn Woodard, running back Dion McIver, offensive tackle Courtney Safford and rookie Galen Houston were named CIAA Players/Rookie of the Week.

In the 49-14 win over Johnson C. Smith Woodard, a junior from Rock Hill, SC recorded two interceptions, one which he returned 83 yards for a touchdown, four passes defended and three tackles.  The All-American was also a d2football.com honorable mention Player of the Week.

McIver,  a senior from Lillington, NC had his biggest day as a Bear carrying the ball 21 times for 186 yards and three touchdowns, including a 53-yard scamper.

Safford, a sophomore from Augusta, GA and one of the underrated linemen in the CIAA, helped Shaw gain 456 yards of total offense.

Houston, a freshman from Savannah, GA, recorded six tackles, one tackle for loss and put a tremendous hit on a Golden Bull kick returner which caused a fumble and he recovered it as well.
