In addition to being named CIAA Player of the Week,
Shaw cornerback Shawn Woodard was named D2Football.com's National Player of the
Week for the second time this season. Running back Byron Cary was named
CIAA Offensive Back of the Week and honorable mention to D2Football.com.
Woodard had a very special day in Shaw's
50-15 victory over Webber International Saturday. The sophomore from Rock
Hill, SC recorded four interceptions, one he returned 99 yards for a touchdown
and four pass-break-ups. This is the second time this season Woodard has
recorded four interceptions in a game. He had four against Edward
Waters. Woodard leads the nation in interceptions (13) and passes
defended (23).
Cary carried the ball 19 times for 262
yards and two touchdowns. He had touchdown runs of 79 and 74 yards.
Note: Offensive tackle Courtney Safford was named CIAA Offensive Lineman
for the third-straight week, fourth time this season. Shaw racked up 583
yards of total offense against Webber International.
