Outstanding Football Athletes Honored with Spring Awards

 

Raleigh, NC – (April 5, 2007) The Football Program at Shaw University recognized outstanding athleticism with the presentation of 2007 Spring Awards.  Players were awarded in several offensive and defensive categories including leadership, academics and most improved skills.

 

Players on the Offensive Team received the following Awards:

Leadership – Anthony Spates

Academic Performance – J.D. Coaxum

Effort - Jeremy Packer & Jared Washington

Weights – Robert Brown

Study Hall – Kelvin Williams

Most Outstanding – Travis Robinson

Most Improved Wide Receiver – James Pettway

Most Improved Running Backs – Aaron Ellison & Marcellus Smith

Most Improved Offensive Line – Wayne Scott & Roland Parham

Outstanding Newcomers - DeAndre Okanji, Ralph Fulton, Kelvin Williams, Alan Atwater, Mike Brown & Julius Gregory

 

Players on the Defensive Team received the following Awards:

Most Outstanding – Tiquan Collins & Aaron Beard

Most Improved – Galen Houston

Most Improved Defensive Back – Jason Daniels

Most Improved Linebacker – Benton Walker

Most Improved Defensive Line – Lewis Ellis

Outstanding Newcomers – Joe Smith, Jason Daniels, Lewis Ellis, DeAndre Coley, Louis Herring, Jerrett Henderson, Jarvis Stokes & Tommy Campbell
