SHAW UNIVERSITY RELEASES 2007 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

Raleigh, NC- Head Football Coach Darrell Asberry and the Athletic Department have released the 2007 Shaw University football schedule.

The Bears, who are coming off one of the toughest seasons in school history (3-7 overall), will play a 10-game schedule, opening up on the road on August 25, 2007 as they travel to Birmingham, AL to face SIAC power house Miles College at 6:00 p.m. Following this match-up, the Bears will get back on the road and travel to Jacksonville, FL to face the Tigers of Edward Waters College in the Willie E. Gary Classic on September 8^th at 5:00 p.m. The Bears will return home September 15th to take on Morehouse College; a game which will be played at Len Bauer Stadium (W.G. Enloe High School) at 4:00 p.m.

Other notable match-ups will be on September 22nd as the Bears will take part in the 10th Annual Down East Viking Football Classic in Rocky Mount, NC. Shaw will square off against the Vikings of Elizabeth City State University, who are coming off their most successful season in school history (9-3 overall) and were last years Eastern Divisional Champions at 5:00 p.m. at the Rocky Mount Athletic Complex. The Bears will also host the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith on September 29^th at Len Bauer Stadium at 4:00 p.m. Homecoming for the Bears has been set for Saturday, October 13^th against Livingstone College at Trojan Stadium (Garner Senior High School) at 1:30 p.m.

Other road contests include Saint Paul’s College (October 6th), Fayetteville State University (October 20th), and Bowie State University (October 27th). The Bears will finish out their 2007 season at home as they will host cross town rival Saint Augustine’s College on November 3^rd at Trojan Stadium at 4:00 p.m.
