Bears Lose to Cross-Town Rival

Both Shaw and St. Augustine's resurrected football programs in 2002.  Shaw had been successful against the Falcons throughout the history of the series and the last two years.

That came to a halt today.

St Augustine's took advantage of seven Shaw turnovers in route to a 34-6 victory over Shaw at John Baker Stadium.

St. Augustine's quarterback Matthew Perry, playing for the injured Darrell Nesbitt, threw three touchdown passes.  Meanwhile, the Bears couldn't get much going gaining only 237 yards of total offense.  Shaw quarterbacks were sacked five  times.  Chris Peavy led the Bear defense with 10 tackles, two for loss and one sack.  Kevin Jones and Tyrone Pettaway had 11 tackles a-piece for the Falcons.

Shaw will host Fayetteville State next Saturday at Trojan Stadium at 1:00 p.m.
