Today was a very hectic day. I had a couple
of meetings with some prospective sponsors. I also found out that one
of my best friends past away in a motorcycle accident in the DC area.
So trying to deal with that as well.
I did have a chance to go out to football practice today. This was the
first day the guys had been outside since Thursday. The team looked
really good out there. A couple of the guys that stood out today were
Robbie Henson, and Courtland Rush, who hooked up for a beautiful touchdown
pass and catch in six on six drills. (Or was that Damon Harrison
Courtland hooked up with?) Anyway it was a beautifully thrown deep
route. But I know Henson caught a nice deep route as well. The
offensive line went against the defensive line in one-on-one drills.
Defensive end Omer Wilson went right past offensive lineman Walter Powell on
one play, but I know Powell will get his revenge.
I had to cut practice short today as my son Blake started his own football practice today in Fuquay-Varina. All this week they will be doing mostly running drills. He is a big kid and looked pretty good out there.
Oh you know what I forgot to tell you? The team has new helmets this year. You remember last year how the helmet was like a metallic white? Well this year the metallic white is still there but the maroon stripes come down the helmet Michigan style. They are really hot!!
Anyway I'll have to cut it short today. Tomorrow will be as busy as today, with the first kickoff now just 12 days away. The volleyball team will resume practice in the gym tomorrow and has a scrimmage against Meredith next Tuesday. We will try and do a team picture and headshots with them tomorrow. I'll try to give you a little more tomorrow. Out.
