GREENSBORO, NC – For the second time in three seasons, the Shaw Lady Bears won the CIAA Cross-Country Championship women’s title with a low score of 33, while the St. Augustine’s Falcons won the men’s title for the second straight season with a low score of 26. The Lady Bears were followed by St. Augustine’s with 41. North Carolina Central finished third with 78 points and Virginia State finished fourth with 101 points. Bowie State, Johnson C. Smith and Virginia Union finished fifth, sixth and seventh with 174, 191 and 203 points. Fayetteville State, Livingstone and Winston-Salem State registered scores of 210, 221 and 235, respectively.

On the men’s side the Falcons were followed by Shaw with 71 points. North Carolina Central finished third with a score of 79 and Virginia State was fourth with a score of 108. Bowie State Livingstone, and Johnson C. Smith were fifth, sixth and seventh with scores of 116, 171 and 260. Fayetteville State Virginia Union, Elizabeth City State and Winston-Salem State registered scores of 260, 277, 284 and 286, respectively.

Katerina Glosva of North Carolina Central broke a school-record winning for the fourth consecutive year, finishing with a time of 19:36. Alhajji Alhassan of St. Augustine’s also won for the fourth consecutive year, finishing with a time of 26:12.
