ELIZABETH CITY - Anthony Greenup recorded his second 30-point outing in three games, scoring 31 points and grabbing 15 rebounds to lead Shaw past Elizabeth City State 77-74 at R.L. Vaughan Center.

It was a see-saw affair for the first eight minutes of the game, but the Vikings went up 32-24 on a three-pointer by Scottie Alston with 5:31 remaining in the first half.  Alston knocked down three first half three's.  But the Bears closed the half out on a 12-4 run as Greenup's two free throws with :35 remaining in the half tied the games at 36-36 at halftime.

Greenup was unstoppable in the second half going 8-for-9 from the field and putting the Bears up 70-69 after completing a three-point-play with 4:07 remaining.  Robert Collier's free throw at the 3:07 mark tied the game at 70-70.  Cordell Maxwell, who also sparked the Bears in the second half finishing with 17 points, scored on a lay-up with 2:32 remaining and the Bears never trailed from that point.  Devin Mooring missed a three-pointer at the buzzer that would have tied the game and sent it to overtime.

Alston finished with 19 points, but it was Jonathan Harris who led the Vikings with 27 points.  Michael McLeod added 12 for Shaw

The Bears will be in action again on Thursday as they host the Eagles of North Carolina Central at 7:30 p.m. in Spaulding Gymnasium.
