DURHAM - Shaw junior forward James Rosebud scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds but it was not enough as the Bears fell to North Carolina Central 71-65 at McLendon-McDougald Gymnasium. 

The Eagles' Jonathan Moore scored a game-high 25 points to go along with 10 rebounds, six steals and three blocked shots. 

The visiting Bears jumped out to a 19-10 lead after a free throw by Che Morgan at 9:22.
 NCCU posted a 10-0 run, including eight points by Moore, to go on top 20-19 with 5:02 on the first half clock.
     
After Shaw regained the advantage 24-20, the Eagles closed the half with another 10-0 run to take a 30-24 lead into the locker room. During the final stretch Moore tallied four steals, two of which resulted in fast break baskets by Moore and the last a baseline jumper by Jason Hervey to beat the first half buzzer.
     
In the second stanza, NCCU led by as many as 13 points (49-36 at 11:29) before Shaw narrowed the gap to four points with just over a minute left in the contest.

The Eagles held off the Bears by connecting on 7-of-10 free throws down the stretch.
NCCU overcame 20 turnovers by shooting 51 percent (25-for-49) from the field, while Shaw hit on just 38.5 percent (25-for-65) of its field goal attempts.
     
Shaw visits nationally-ranked Bowie State University on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
