Former Shaw star forward Anthony Greenup has signed a
contract to play with the world-renown Harlem Globetrotters. His first
tour begins this month and will finish up in April at the NCAA Final Four in a
game against college All-stars.
The signing of Greenup brings the number of players from Shaw to sign
professional contract to four, since Ronald "Flip" Murray was drafted
by the Seattle Supersonics in 2002,. Forward Kenyon Booker signed to play
professionally overseas in Croatia in 2003, while guards Cedric Lusk and
Cordell Maxwell have signed this year to play with the Maryland Nighthawks of
the ABA.
Greenup had signed to play with NBDL defending champions
Asheville Altitude late in October before deciding to sign with the
Globetrotters this week. Greenup averaged 20.9 points, 10.2 rebounds and
2.8 blocks for the Bears while leading the nation in field goal percentage
(.711) on his way being to being named as an All-American.
