Flip to Start for Sonics
Former Shaw-star Ronald "Flip" Murray is slated to
start for the Seattle Supersonics against the L.A. Clippers according to Sonics
head coach Nate McMillan. The game will be played in Saitama, Japan on
October 30 at 2:30 a.m. This will be Murray's first start in the NBA
Murray led the Sonics 2003 summer-league in scoring, averaging 22.9 points per game. He played in 14 games last season with the Sonics and the Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 1.9 points per game.
Murray was a second-round (42nd overall) pick of the Bucks in the 2002 NBA Draft. In February, he was traded by the Bucks with Ray Allen, Kevin Ollie, and either a 2003 first-round draft pick or two 2003 second-round draft picks to the Sonics for Gary Payton and Desmond Mason. Murray was named the Division II Player of the Year in 2002.
