Bears Lose Home Opener

The Shaw men's basketball team shot 24 percent from the field in the second half and fell to Morehouse 87-69 at Spaulding Gymnasium.

After taking an early first half lead Shaw (0-3) found itself down 32-29 with 5:28 to play in the first half.  The Bears went on a 17-4 run as Darius Acuff (12 points) and Ricky Williams combined to score 13 of those points helping Shaw to a 46-36 halftime lead.  The Bears extended their lead to 12 as Williams hit a three-pointer to extend the Bear lead to 54-42 with 17:54 remaining in the second half.  The Maroon Tigers (1-0) would go on a 14-2 run as Brandon Childs' lay-up with 13:56 remaining tied the score 56-56.  The Bears continued to turn the ball over and made just 8-of-33 field goals in the half.  Darius Wade was big in the second half for Morehouse scoring 16 of his 24 points in the half.  Williams led Shaw with 20.
