Shaw’s Black & Bryant Earn CIAA Weekly Honors for Baseball
HAMPTON, VA – Shaw University senior pitcher Joseph Black has been selected as the CIAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week and also selected for weekly honors is junior outfielder Avery Bryant, who has been chosen as the Offensive Player of the Week, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced.
Black is a native of Cleveland, OH majoring in Psychology at Shaw. He was 1-0 last week with an ERA of 1.50 allowing only 2 hits with 7 strikeouts in 6 innings of pitching.
Bryant is a native of Laurinburg, NC majoring in Recreation at Shaw University. In 6 games last week Bryant earned 12 hits and 11 runs off 20 at bats which gained him a batting average of .600 for the week. He also drove in 13 RBIs, hit 2 homeruns, and stole 3 bases. Bryant has scored a total of 26 runs and 26 RBIs in just 24 games. He also has a batting average of .400 with 30 hits and 2 homeruns.
