Brandon Smith led off the game with a walk, the stole second. A single by
Kelvin White moved Smith to third. Jermaine Roger's sacrifice fly to
right field scored Smith and Shaw took a 1-0 lead. After

reached on an error and the floodgates opened as Shaw committed five errors and
two passed balls in the inning. With Sam Martin on first and Matt Johnson on
second, Nichols homered over the fence in right-centerfield to give the Trojans
a 7-0 lead.

starter Ryan Barham allowed only two more hits and one more walk over the next
four innings. Blake Montgomery and Jason Sharp combined to pitch four
shutout innings, allowing only one hit.

struck for two more runs in the bottom of the sixth on Shawn Warner’s
two-run double and added its final run in the eighth on a wild pitch.
Shaw starter LaPrince Radcliffe (0-1) allowed only three more hits over the
next six innings. All of the runs he allowed were unearned.
