Redd Heads List of six players named All-CIAA

Six Shaw baseball players were named to the 2003 All-CIAA team.  Milton Redd was named CIAA Player of the Year for the second-straight year.  Jermaine Rogers, William Sanders, William Gray and Eric Rice were named to the All-CIAA team, while James Clay was named to the CIAA All-Rookie team.

Redd, a senior first baseman from Wilmington, N.C., is currently batting .431 on the season with 8 HR and 50 RBI, both of which lead the CIAA.  He is also slugging .824.  Rogers, a sophomore centerfielder from South Hill, Va. is batting .372 with 2 HR, 31 RBI and 35 runs scored.  Sanders So., Clayton, N.C.), a leftfielder and last year's CIAA Rookie of the Year, is batting .421 with 5 HR, 36 RBI and a slugging percentage of .789.  Gray, a senior rightfielder from Snow Hill, N.C., is batting .400 with 3 HR and 27 RBI.  Rice, a junior pitcher from Emporia, Va., has a 6-3 won-loss record on the season with an ERA of 3.65.  He has pitched 61.2 innings and struck out 55 in 10 appearances.  Clay is having an outstanding rookie season for the Bears.  The freshman from Nelson, VA is batting .281 with 18 RBI and 26 runs scored.
