White, Smith Named to All-Tournament Team
PETERSBURG, VA - Pitcher Kevin White and second baseman Brandon Smith were named to the 2005 CIAA All-Tournament Team.

White, a sophomore from Hattiesburg, MS picked up the victory in the 7-4 victory over St. Augustine's by going the full nine innings giving up only two earned runs, scattering six hits, while striking out eight.   Smith, a junior from Chicago, IL batted .643 in the tournament with 9 RBI.

Shaw vs. ECSU Rescheduled Due to Inclement Weather
PETERSBURG, VA - The Shaw vs. Elizabeth City State baseball game, scheduled for 12 noon today, has been rescheduled for Saturday April 23 at 11:00 a.m., due to rain.  The game will be played at Whaley Colbert Field.

Shaw Defeats St. Aug's; Will Face Elizabeth City State
The Shaw baseball team defeated St. Paul ’s on Wednesday in the play-in game to make itself eligible for the 2005 CIAA Baseball Championship.  The Bears took a step closer to making it to the championship game, be defeating cross-town rival St. Augustine ’s 7-4 in the double elimination tournament played at Whaley Colbert Field.   Read more

Shaw to Face St. Augustine's in First Round of CIAA Championship
The Shaw baseball team defeated St. Paul ’s 22-1 in the play-in game of the CIAA Championship in Petersburg , VA.   The Bears will face top-seed St. Augustine ’s tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.

White, Bryant Named Players of the Week
Sophomore first baseman Kevin White and freshman centerfielder Avery Bryant were named CIAA Player and Offensive Player of the Week, respectively.  White, a Hattiesburg, MS native who also pitches for the Bears, batted .421 in six games last week with 6 RBI, 4 2B and 5 SB.

Bryant, a Laurinburg, NC native batted .400 in six games last week, driving in five runs.

St. Aug's Sweeps Shaw in Cross-Town Rivalry
St. Augustine’s defeated Shaw 8-6 and 2-1 in doubleheader baseball action at Emery Field.  The Falcons win the season series 3-1.  Read more

Welch Throws No-Hitter; Bears Sweep St. Paul's
Kasey Welch threw four innings of no hit ball as only one runner reached base on an error and Joe Williams pitched one inning of not hit ball as Shaw defeated St. Paul ’s 32-0 in game one.  The Tigers managed five hits in game two but Shaw prevailed 20-0.  Read more

Shaw Falls To Mount Olive
MOUNT OLIVESantos Estremera’s bases-loaded triple highlighted an eight-run fourth inning and Daniel Wood pitched six innings of scoreless relief as Mount Olive defeated Shaw 18-4 in non-conference baseball Tuesday at Scarborough Field. Stephen Nordan had three doubles, while Jonathan Pullen and Lance Martin also had three hits apiece to pace the Trojans’ season-high 19-hit attack.  Read more
