Shaw Sports Medicine
Welcome to Shaw University. The Sports Medicine Staff promises to
provide quality healthcare services and assure the well-being of
each student-athlete at Shaw University. Shaw University houses
200+ student athletes over 13 different sports.
The staff and facilities provide all athletes with the best care in both the prevention, recognition and rehabilitation of injuries. The 5000 square foot facility is housed in the C.C. Spalding Gymnasium and is newly renovated.
The staff is headed by the Director of Sports Medicine David Mills, Head Athletic Trainer Roger Pfister, and Assistant Athletic Trainer Sean Burton. All athletic trainers are licensed by the NCATA. They are responsible for the care/prevention of injuries, injury rehabilitation, psychology, administration, and event coverage.
Shaw University offers a student Athletic Training program and has approximately 60 students participating. The students learn hands-on techniques to help assist the athletic trainers.
