White Prevails Over Maroon in Spring Game |
The bulk of spring practice wrapped up
today for the defending CIAA Champion Shaw football team with
the annual spring game at Chavis Park. In past years, Shaw has
played offense versus defense, but head coach Deondri Clark and
the Shaw coaching staff elected to split the teams up and play
Maroon versus White. The White team
gained 230 yards of total offense and limited the maroon team
to 170 yards of total defense in rolling to a 30-12 victory.
The Bears will make-up some missed days during the spring
session next week, and will work a lot on special teams.

Gridders Open Second Week of Practice
The defending
CIAA Champion Shaw football team enters its second week of
spring drills. The Bears practice at Chavis Park
beginning at 3:30 p.m. daily. Yesterday was the
first full day of practice for the Bears in full pads.
Next week the Bears will be in hibernation due to spring
break but will resume practice on April 4. The
spring game will be on April 9, time and place to be
determined. |

Farrier Named Head Coach at Kentucky State
Shaw
offensive coordinator Fred Farrier has been hired by
Kentucky State as its new head coach. Farrier was
the offensive coordinator at Shaw for one season and the
Bears finished ranked in the top five in most offensive
categories in the CIAA. Dion McIver became the first
1,000-yard rusher in school history.
