Shaw’s McGaughey Named CIAA Women’s Player of the Week
Curtis Named Coach of the Week
(Raleigh, NC) – The CIAA today named Shaw’s Tanisha McGaughey
its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and Head Coach Jacques Curtis its
Coach of the Week based on Shaw’s victories over Elizabeth City State and
Belmont Abbey this past week.
McGaughey
(Sr., Norfolk, VA) scored 21 points in the Lady Bears 79-76 win over Belmont
Abbey on Saturday. Against Elizabeth City State, she had 14 points and nine
assists to help Shaw tally the 67-56 win over the conference rival. On the
season, she is averaging 15.6 points , 5.6 assists, and six rebounds a
game.
Curtis
has guided the Lady Bears to a 4-1 start (3-1 in the CIAA). This past week,
Shaw won handily over Elizabeth City State. The Lady Bears fought off
Belmont Abbey, breaking a tie with less than a minute left.
The Bears next play at the University of the District of
Columbia on Monday, December 14 at 6:00 p.m. The next Shaw home game is
Thursday, December 17 at 6:00 p.m.
