Shaw’s Janelle Harrison Named CIAA Newcomer of the Week

Jacques Curtis Named Coach of the Week, Celebrating His 200^th Win

(Raleigh, NC) – Shaw’s Janelle Harrison was today named CIAA Newcomer of the Week for her performances against the University of the District of Columbia and Central State.  Head Coach Jacques Curtis – who garnered his 200^th win at Shaw on Thursday – was named CIAA Coach of the Week.

Against UDC, Harrison – a 5-10 guard from Chesapeake, VA – had 16 points and 3 steals in Shaw’s 65-48 victory.  Against Central State, she tallied 11 in the 64-52 win by the Lady Bears. On the season, she is averaging 10.4 points per game.

Head Coach Jacques Curtis has led the Shaw to a 6-1 start (3-1 in the CIAA).  The Lady Bears victory over Central State was Curtis’ 200^th at Shaw.  His record at Shaw stands at 200-81 (.712). 

The Lady Bears return to action on January 2 at 5:30 when they host Lincoln (PA).
